There’s a lot of companies out there who are doing well by copying ideas. If you do some research then they’ve invented very little. They are purely profit driven.
This is bad for the industry as ultimately it’s a race to the bottom.

In reply to Post #11 Yes both ends were much more angular. I'm pretty sure that the early covers were either tan, or tan with green edges.
The adjustment wheel had pins rather than the teeth of the Fox beds.

In reply to Post #14 maybe he will cut down on the Premier Inn adverts

In reply to Post #8 I’m wondering if he will be able to give it his full attention as well as his acting and (alledged) comedy career as well as being the frontman for Comic Relief and Red Nose Day.

In reply to Post #3 This is true. Most fox stuff is copied from other companies. I remember that maple fire cookware they brought out. Same colour, exact same product just with a fox label and double the price. Same with those new landing nets, a direct copy from the German company Fencl.

It's a shame to me that the Tackle companies have completely hijacked the media world. It's cheaper to make crap tackle, and then pay 'celebrity' anglers to flog it. We've had the footballification of tackle brands, where people treat Manufacturers like a Team they support, and buy all the slop they produce.
These named anglers don't have a viable way to make a living outside of this corporate world, but imagine if they could make a living just making fishing videos without the sponsorship, they would only use the tackle that was the best, it would lead to tackle manufacturers actually competing to make the best tackle avaliable, so that people would see the superstars using it, instead of just using what they're paid to use.
Kids grow up idolising these sponsored corporate shills, but I would wager that a lot of members on here are far better anglers than any of the celebrities, or at least know someone out of the limelight that is, and I would bet everything i own that they don't stick to just one, two or even three brands.
Tldr: tackle manufacturers should stick to making tackle.

In reply to Post #10 Yes I remember them chairs. More boxy in shape diffrent leg mechanism and head rest locking wheel. Burgundy in colour from memory. Must of got round the patent somehow. Or Fox's patent must of ended. Think Nash not long after JRC bought there own chair out.

In reply to Post #7 From memory JRC (another Essex company) were the first to bring out a bedchair to challenge Fox's monopoly. Originally made in a barn within walking distance of where I live.
Cliff and Kevin definitely used to get on ok back in the day. Cliff even used to take Kevin as a guest to a water he was a member of.

In reply to Post #8 Fox certainly knows how to run a company numbers wise unlike some of the other big boys who shall remain nameless .

In reply to Post #1 I personally couldn't give a Rats Arse who goes where or does what
Nor do including this Henry bloke whoever he is

In reply to Post #6 That surprises me. Thought they started out with the old Kevin Maddox endorsed bedchair
Pretty much had that market to themselves until the mid nineties
Probably heavily patented. Think the Essex mafia( Cliff Fox, Kevin Nash ) had a few runs in back in the day.

In reply to Post #4 dating back to the sixties.
Founder: Cliff Fox.
First Product: A metal bait dropper was released in 1967.

In reply to Post #4 I'm not sure it's fair to compare modern Fox with old Fox. I used to by a lot of Fox stuff 90s/0s but haven't bought anything from them for a long time other than a tube tool.
Last week I had the zig & tig box, felt cheap compared with Kordas so it went back.

In reply to Post #3 I think that’s a bit unfair to fox. They have been around a long time and on the whole sell good quality gear dating back to the sixties. They seem a well run outfit as an outsider looking in.
Nash on the other hand seem to have spent a fortune on big name angler sponsorships and trendy YouTube content whilst taking their eye off the ball in terms of sales and quality.
Recently When it all started going wrong and Nash had to offload a chunk of their wage bill fox have obviously seen an opportunity to recruit HL who I’m sure will do a good job for them.
