In reply to Post #17 Yes infact the photograph is evidence for you in a court not the courier or the seller.

In reply to Post #17 Correct there.

In reply to Post #16 I agree it is rubbish but as I said an item is only delivered if put in your hands.Photographs of parcels on the floor, left outside is not delivered. If you choose a safe place then you are accepting full responsibility if the item goes missing

In reply to Post #15 But both the seller and eBay will have it marked as "delivered" with photographic "proof".....then it is your word against theirs that you haven't actually got it.....................would eBay refund under those circumstances....I doubt it and even if they did would Royal Mail pay out a claim to the seller, again I doubt it!
RM "Tracked" covers up to £150 so there will be those dishonest buyers who claim it was never received to try and get their refund!!
system is rubbish to be fair!

In reply to Post #14 It is their responsibility if it goes missing but you contact the seller not the courier

In reply to Post #13 Understand that but what about the Royal Mail "Tracked" service that many, (including eBay) now use? That don't require a signature.....just a photo.
I have had to track some items as a buyer and a seller on eBay recently and some of the photos they take are laughable, no chance of identifying anything from them!

In reply to Post #11 A parcel left on a doorstep is not by law delivered. It's still the responsibility of the sender. They have no right to make you wait for a refund either.
I do agency driving and most of the companies I drive for do not allow you to leave goods anywhere.
No signature you take the goods back. I had a customer telling me he did not have to sign so I picked his stuff up and took it back with me. He phoned in and the owner told him I was right.

In reply to Post #11 Only classed as delivered if the goods are put in your hands, the retailer has to issue replacement or refund if not. That is the law and the retailer is responsible unless you have stated a safe place for it to be left

Problem with a lot of couriers is, (even with Royal Mail now) they class a parcel as "delivered" if they take a photo of it at your front door.
I've had parcels left where the courier hasn't even rang the bell, just dumped it on my doorstep, took a photo and hopped back in his van.
If someone then nicks the parcel you are screwed. The retailer will say it was delivered as will the courier.

I had a £500 parcel left at my front door that was actually on the footpath. I've got home as had only popped out for 10 mins with the old lady from down the road stood by it. She would have taken it in but could not lift it.
That was from johnson Ross so I called them and told them never to use that courier and always use parcel pat. He delivered to our shop as well so if no one was home he would take it to the shop.
We've just found a parcel that was delivered in March. Courier had put it over the back fence and was hidden between the fence and hedge. But they had not left a card so we didn't know.
The whole parcel delivery has gone t1ts up since covid and needs sorting out.
But it would help people if someone that knows the laws about it could do a topic that could be made a sticky for people's reference in the future.
Seems most go to the courier but should be going straight to the retailer.
