Been using 20lb IQ2 for my boom sections for a few years now as I’ve always found the 25lb boom a bit too stiff for my liking. I’ve always crimped it using the Small crimps and fingers crossed never had a problem. Had carp to just under 60lb abroad and cats to just under 100lb and always been fine.

Could you put your Hooklink in a 2mm straw (same length as hooklink) and it woudn't touch the sides?
That's my version of DEAD straight.

I like using the Thinking Anglers Recoil. Making rigs with it can be cumbersome due to the coil but easy to enough to straighten once you have finished making your rig. Not as stiff as the korda mouth trap but stiffer than other stuff on the market.

2 methods of straightening.

1. Steam over the kettle.
2. Using 2 rig pullers - pull the rig taught and then attempt to stretch it 30 to 40 times in quick succession. on the last stretch, hold it for 10 to 20 seconds. The rig should be very close to straight. Not as effective as a kettle but very good trick bank side. (learned this from ian chillcot)

I didn’t find the iq crimped very well. Maybe the xs size would be ether as I was using the smalls before the Xs came out

I crimp the 20lb IQ2 with the XS crimps..it works great and straightens quite easily. I usually steam it but a few hours on a rig board also works.

Tried the 15 and 20 ... hard to fully straighten.
Went back to the 25.
Same with other Flouros - thinner the diameter.....

Right chaps, I’ve been using the Korda 25lb boom for the last couple of years, love the crimping and how neat and strong it is , looking for something slightly softer than the 25 more if all all rounder. Anybody got any reviews on the 20 or even 15 ? Or anybody crimped the 20lb IQ2 ? Must be a material able to crimp. Cheers 🎣
