Hi All

HELP please...

Brought a new set of Daiwa Emblem 45 SCW QD Reels of e-bay New.. not seen these reel before but the reports are good, had a look at them this afternoon.. look great, just one thing when the bail arm is open to cast, when I turn the handle to wined in the arm does not close, flip back to pick the line up just makes a clicking noise is this right... OR time to contact the seller..

At this moment not happy if my reels are broken..

Thank you for any advice..

Cheers

Andy

It isn't meant to, the bail arms are manual buddy.
So sounds like your reels are all good.

All good. Manual bail arms on those reels. Stops any accidental closures on casts.

I use same reels and cm 90 in 15lb which I've found absolutely bomb proof, I've extracted fish from weed beds, snags and Norfolk reeds, every time I've inspected the line it's still been perfect and no need to strip any off unlike other lines I've used.

The bale arm should close when winding. I've some Shimano LC's and one of those fails to close when winding.
With people talking of manual closing there must be a lot of reels along there with the same problem.

Thats an old way of doing things. Closing the bail manually is more positive and puts less stress on the reel. Don't think I've actually seen anyone close a bail this way in the last 15 years

I've got the newer shimano lc and none of them close while winding, they are all manual bail arms. They don't have the automatic bail arm closer on them anymore so when you go for a cast it don't close on itself

I wouldn't buy a carp reel with an auto closing bail arm anymore. Makes sense on a spinning reel when you often want to take up the slack quickly, but not needed when you're trapping and sinking line IMO.

just a note for those that dont like the QD they now do a QDM (medium) drag knob for the emblem and crosscast 45
dont know how much or when it will appear on the slow-on-the-uptake UK site but its on the german one

I genuinely didnt know the answer to this. Had to emcheck my basias when using them. Must be so used to doing it, i just do it automatically. But all 3 of my basias require manual closing. Not sure on the tournaments though as i havent had a chance to test them

Thats interesting. Looks like three quarters of a turn maybe? That's much more sensible than the quarter turn they have. I will be getting them for my 45's.
Are you sure?
