After something of a discussion and education about this with Ken, I am now a firm believer and fully support what he has to say.
Okay statistically one might feel that one is safe, but some NHS links just to refresh the memory, as it can kill:
Personal Protection Measures here
And if you think you might have symptoms, the link below gives some official guidance. The reality, as i'm sure judging by the life changing experiences of others, is far worse.
Treatment here
Hopefully we can kick off the discussion with rats and what we are going to do about them soon, as I hope there are many more like me, who feel they are a blight and risk we could do without. Perhaps one for another day as there are many pressing issues relating to Carp predation, but I'll be taking home all my rubbish, cleaning up not leaving anything for the rats on the bank like the vast majority of responsible anglers on here.

Hi Guys.
A bit of a crash course courtesy of my brother-in-law who actually taught me pretty much everything I know 4 years back starting off with the Tincas in the Cotswold water park.
Got into Carp (and Cats) fishing in a big way when working in Barcelona for 9 months in 2012. Most weekends down on the Ebro.
Now home again in Wiltshire, and looking to broaden the horizons and enjoy the finer moments. More Passion for Angling than Thinking Tactics if you know what I mean. Still lack subtlety, accuracy and the finer courtesy awareness but i'm working on it.
Fish with my 28 year old Land Rover and where permitted, my Hungarian Viszla who watches my kit for me.

Perhaps I just got a duff set.
I have a set of these, purchased about 12 months ago as I wanted a small travelling set for short stints and stalking. Initially, all was well, they are accurate (against my Reuben Heaton digis), easy to use and take up little space. Nice folding mechanism for the weighing hooks too.
All was well, until they got wet, which in their line of work is pretty unavoidable! Whether they are not a good seal or perhaps some other reason, the screen refused to work. I changed batteries (they take the same 9v rectangular batteries as Delkims) and they worked okay but would not switch off.
Have tried drying them out, but have the same problem. They won't switch off, and stealing the batteries off my Delks every time just to weigh a fish, before removing the battery again gets a little frustrating.
I could not recommend these scales. When they work, their great. When they don't my Delkims don't either.
