If you do speed bare in mind a lot of tolls are average speed checked and a lot of them have Gendarmaries (sp) and you'll be pulled over there and then. Don't pull off at tolls without 1st putting your seatbelt on if you've taken it off.
Sorry - that's not true.
I've been going for over 30 years now I've never had it happen or seen it happen. I work at a motorsports venue 2 or 3 times a year and none of the clients have ever seen or heard of it (plenty been had by radar guns and some lost their cars though)
They will wait just before the entry and exit to the peage with speed guns which may be why people think its done on average speed.

Cabins are a must on an overnight, depends what crossing and when but I've had them for as little as £18 , normally about £30 / £35 though.
Newhaven/Dieppe is a good middle ground , not as far to go as Dover (for me) and a hell of a lot cheaper than the P'mouth crossing.

Water level can be lower at that time of year if there hasn't been much rain. It doesn't affect the fishing at all though - nothing to be worried about.

As Bryan said, there aren't really areas for the cats , if they are feeding you will pick them up - you can sometimes see them disturbing fry which gives you a bit of an idea. From barn bank casting to your right parallel with the bank there is an overhanging tree in the corner is always a good spot but you'll need to be locked up and right on your rods as they will take you straight into the tree roots. You'll get them on your carp gear anyway - landing them is a different matter
Tash is the resident cat expert, she will let you know where they have been coming from.
