Looking at going to Thailand next year.... Currently looking at May and going to Jurassic lake.

Is there a better worse time of year to go?

Yes, agree, though May is very much hit and miss. My friends been over there 3 months Phuket/Krabi, as of the last 2 weeks a lot more rain.
Even so it's still in the 30's, the rain can be heavy but personally I don't mind it as it cools you off.
Dec -April is classed as the hot season and prices reflect it. Nov ain't bad.

I've been several times, December/January has always been the best time for us. March/April blistering heat so was too l much, gets rainy after that but who cares, you'll still be in Thailand 👍

I fished Gillhams a couple of times was good but expensive, sadly was supposed to do Jurrasica then COVID came along and ballsed it all up, not fished over there since.

Couple of bits of advice - take your own loo roll, trust me it's worth making space in your case for 2 or 3 rolls, and the beer of choice out there is Leo 👍

You can buy perfectly good toilet roll in any 7/11 or family mart. And they are everywhere.

Got to agree but personally never had any problems in any of the hotels. We've been over there 8 or 9 times, got married there too, my friend lives their 3 months of the year (as long as his long stay visa allows...lol).
The place has changed dramiatically since we first went in the earlly 0's, it's so busy now, to the point we won't go back to previous places, still I've never been oop north and would like to try that for a change

My friend has a resort over in Thailand and goes back for about 3-4 months a year after working over here.

He's from Manchester also 👍

I'll have to have a nosey
The last time we were in Phuket, maybe 2018, we went to Chaling Fishing Park. It had just been opened, bare mud banks, lots of fun in the wet
Jez who owns it is a expat, southener iirc, really nice guy, nothing was too much trouble, even refused to take petrol money from us for picking us up from the other side of the island.
This thread made me look at his place again, I wouldn't have recognised it, but things do grow faster over there

I went to Jurassic in 2015
and found out May is one of the hottest times !!! and so I booked in December when its the coolest time and it was perfect still hot though ! caught really well !!!
but what I decided was it was silly spending all that money traveling just to fish and not see Thailand !
we booked so we had 10 days there this meant we could fish couple of days then a sight seeing day and chance for our aching arms to recover this worked out superb plus we went into town in the evenings when its cooler and all the evening markets are open etc
as you can rent a car and driver very cheap that picks you up from Jurassic and waits while you enjoy the night life
FLIGHTS !!
at the time we went EVA Air was the cheapest and its a direct flight !!! it was bloody brilliant flight !!
Are you sure?
