Hello all,
I have done very little in the way of night fishing, partly due to my wife telling me that she doesn't like to be left alone at night.
Well this weekend just gone, we were at the carp show in London and i pointed at one of the bed chairs that i've had my eye on for sometime but have been hesitant to pull the trigger due to the above and worry as to how much use i would geto ut of it.
It turns out for this christmas she had actually gone and bought me a bed and sleeping bag, kind of like a gesture to encourage me that its ok to go out at night. The only reason she told me is that she fears she may have made a poor decision in what she has purchased bless her.
I had my eye on an Avid Benchmark sleep system and my wife has bought the following 2 advanta products.

I have always been skeptical of the quality of Advanta products.
She is said we could return them and put the funds towards something else.
So the question is, is their a widely recommended sleep system for around 250 pounds?

A lot of people don't like systems and prefer a separate bed / bag combo. It depends on what you want. One thing you might want to try to do is check some out in a shop, if possible.
Otherwise, the Solar CH08 bedchair is a good price and is very popular here - not hugely different to Solar SP-C Tech that costs 2 x the price. Then it's a case of finding a suitable bag, but a lot depends on the conditions you're going to be out in. For what it's worth, I have the SP C Tech and a Trakker Big Snooze bag (smooth lining) with the Korda bedchair cover. Works for me.

That advanta bedchair is a decent budget option, I have bought one myself.
It's just the same as the wychwood the costs £140.

Seems there's only one in the relationship who's hesitant to pull the trigger.
Why waste money upgrading if you are hardly going to use it.
you might not like going night fishing yourself so stay as you are until you are sure you want something a little better.
Not sure on the products you have bought but if it's too cold you Can always buy a thermal cover to help

I have the cx4 sleeping bag, it's done me OK for 3 years so I'm sure that will be perfect

I bought one of those beds when they were £60ish a few weeks ago. I would say it is a decent bed for that money, nowhere near the quality of the Trakker superlight bed I also use but then its nowhere near the price.
It's on the smaller side, I'm 5' 10 and would say I only just fit on it comfortably. It also creaks. A lot.
No experience of the bag but its a 5 season bag so unless you are going in the winter, if you've never been night fishing before you're probably not starting now, I'm sure it will be fine for you the rest of the year.

I've got one of the sleeping bags, it's a decent 5 season bag.
Fleece top half and smooth bottom half from what I remember.
I rarely use it as I have got the Fortis one too which I prefer as it packs away smaller, however the Advanta is definitely warmer.

I brought an advanta bed in the sale about 6 months ago, used it on a few overnights and it was ok then used it for a 3 night session drove straight to the tackle shop on the way home and brought the avid leveltech bed, absolutely killed my back but I am 18 stone and I was feeling the bar even with the elastic tight. My boy now uses that bed as he's only 10,
As for the sleeping bag I had an advanta 4 season bag that I used for a good 2-3 years couldn't realy fault it

for some reason, the avid leveltech beds seem to vary wildly on price.
Is there like varying models which aren't clearly marked? (besides them being standard and X, 6/8leg)

I've found beds fit into two neat categories
The weight of a mini metro but comfortable
Liftable but uncomfortable
I go a (Nash mf60) for a week session and B (old Nash) for single nighters.
There's not a bed on the market (imo) that does both.

I'm not sure as iv seen them for 260-270s I paid 180 for mine i did look at the system but I prefer a bed and a bag

I'm looking at a new sleep system too, as I currently have the fox flatliner, I find it heavy and cumbersome, I'm leaning towards an avid bed, with the usb heatable mattress as a bonus as there about 50 quid ( the usb heater/topper/mattress).... But not sure which one to go for, it's such a minefield I've been looking at this upgrade problem for 2 years now ...
As I prefer a hard mattress/bed for my back, I'm over 6.1ft tall and don't want anything to heavy as I fish tamar lake and have to lug my kit ....
