Dabbled with mesh sticks last winter but never really got it right.
I'm ok with the mix and making the sticks but unsure as to what rig and components I should be using to prevent tangles etc.
I want to use 12mm wafter hookbaits as its a small runs water and the fish aren't too big.
Any help on the rig I should be using and the correct components to make it would be much appreciated.

Soft hooklink, knotless knot and a hookbait of your choice. Pull your rig through the stick and the hook into the stick - no tangles, no catching on anything on the way down. Easy.

4" sinking braid / hook of choice with small kicker / hook bead opposite barb and wafter mounted on micro rig ring . . .last winter I was using the little 8mm Northern Special pop ups and the hook weight balanced them perfectly . . . got bored of threading the PVA crumb sticks on once they got feeding and just nicked a golf ball sized bag on instead!

My way is a little slip d combi rig.
Lead, inline if it's possible, but clip is fine as well. Swivel is qc. I recently switched to qc swivel without a ring, to make it even more direct. Rig, combi rig, stiff boom very short, little sinker (esp ronnie thingy sinker slips over the knot nicely, supple part with a small longshank. On the stiff part i have a tungsten anti tangle sleeve, cutt off a little piece so it slides over the knot or crimp. Then you take your stringer needle, put on sleeve, slide on pva mesh right up to the sinker, slide sleeve, put on qc swivel and fold the supple part back and hook into mesh. The mesh is now locked , everything present perfectly.
