I wondered if anyone on here would remember that shop let alone on this thread, how weird is that? 😁
Don't bother going back, there's nothing to see anymore the shop is now part of a house.
Your'e right, Sutton is not what it was 40 years ago. It's proper outer London now and I do anything I can not to go there tbh.

When I used to stay up there,I used my grandparents address to fish a fair few places..
I'd mainly go up for 6 week holidays..one place I did fish a lot ,was Diana fountain..,Cannon Hill Common.. and Watermeads ,which is next to what was grandparents place..
On Diana ,early 80s I met and chatted to a young guy,very keen with glasses then, he is quite well known now they say..!
Totally different world to where I live/grown up...had good memories tho..!

Free Spirit's S range big river barbel rod, code RBR108 uses the same blank as KS in their S range of carp rods. Website says it's a 2.25lb test, but, reality is it feels more.

So I tried the the Harrison Torrix 12ft 2lb rods today. Only managed to bank 1 carp to around 11lb and they seem perfect for my needs. Great action combining the right amount of power and bend.
My only nagging thought and 1st world problem, is that I don't like the green carbon. lol
I got my Free Spirit CTX float rod out and just love the way it looks in comparison.
I know its wrong but I'm debating if I can keep them.

No difference between barbel rods and carp rods its just a name. The 2lb torrix specialist and 2lb carp are the same blank and a fantastic blank it is. Carbon does,nt come in colours its painted and varnished. They must be fairly old harrisons stopped painting green a long time ago only burgundy colour is available now. Im not a fan of painted blanks they scratch fairly easily however the green looks good.

I know, but I'm really shallow and wanted a more modern black carbon weave look.
Although they are in fantastic condition and perfect for my needs, I think I may have to sell them and buy a pair that look more like one of my Free Spirit rods. (I know, I'm an idiot)

Most barbel rods are black like carp rods, including 99% of Torrix'. Cork handles are pretty standard though.

You could take a picture of your new rods on your pod and post it in the tarty tackle thread. There hasn't been a post there for a while. You would get some fair minded and constructive suggestions on the look of it.
