Interested on your opinion on the coleman being the worst going, been using them for as long as I can remember with no issues? I swapped from cadac if I recall a long time ago as the colemans worked better in the really cold weather. All ears if there are others that are better

I got a deal in the summer for Coleman gas canisters,20 quid for 6.They were brill in the warm weather, soon as the temperatures dropped in September, absolutely awful flow on them.I made sure I stocked up on some Primus to get me through the winter.

I'm sad enough to have tested a few brands, and I actually posted this in the past:
I am positive I've made the point in the past about camping and caravan stores being cheaper than tackle shops.
This week I came back via my local George Sharman Camping and Caravan and decided to grab a couple of GoSysten canisters as I was passing.
£5.50 each compared to £5.99 or £6.99 in a couple of my local tackle shops.

Right for the anal out there, a list of canisters I have used and I think the best to worst, these are all Propane/butane/iso-butane.
Primus and GoSystem. They both will run until empty with no need to shake or warm. In winter they are my preference.
Sunn Gas, I hadn't seen these anywhere except one of my local tackle shops, it did require a shake but worked until empty.
CADAC, will work, but in winter may need tipping on its side to completely empty.
Coleman, the premium name, yet the worst gas canister. Even in summer they need shaking or tipping on their side to empty. In winter they need heating up before you can get a decent burn out of them, even at almost new.

Which Coleman canisters are you talking about Nick? There are three in the range. The standard 70/30 (the ones with the green mountains you get in bulk boxes), the Performance and the Extreme.
I agree the standard 70/30 are not much good, but they are not a ‘premium' product abd can be picked up cheaply in bulk from a number of places.
The Extreme are silly money (£4-5 for a C100) but they are very good in all conditions. I wouldn't use them for fishing as the conditions do not require a gas that works below -25.
When it gets cold while fishing I either heat the canister in half an inch of water in a pan over the flame or I use the Trangia.

never had a problem with 70/30 coleman canisters,
even when fishing in winter,wouldn't use anything else,

By 'premium' I mean the brand name, not the actual canister. GoSystem or Primus aren't as big a name if you get me.

I would suggest that Primus is a more ‘premium' brand than Coleman. Maybe you mean Coleman is more mainstream? As we all know, bigger brand and wider distribution does not necessarily mean a better product.

Right an add on this:
To give them a fair chance I bought a pack of 6 Sunn Gas canisters.
They have now been used in winter weather down to -4⁰C and I can say that they do need a bit of warm water under them when the gas is nearly out at air temperatures below around 6⁰.

I agree FOR WINTER
possibly the best apart from pure propane HAS GOT TO BE Primus Power Gas
rated to -15 and runs flawlessly until empty every time
