Just hoping that rain holds off until later and they can get through some early wickets. Be a shame if the weather call this one, but we have had the better of it in the other tests.

Shame it ended like that.

Hopefully they can look at what cost them the first 2 matches and give up with bairstow as keeper.

I thought it pretty ridiculous him coming out and having a go over the criticism of his keeping this week. Even fully fit it's been a weakness for England whenever he's had the gloves

Just as ridiculous as Stokes saying his decisions on selection and declarations haven't made a difference..... utter crap. Declaring on the first day of the 1st test with Root in full flow was a bad decision as was not declaring at lunch while 189 ahead last Friday knowing rain was coming in over the weekend just so Bairstow can get to a ton.

Now Stokes comes out with- Anderson the greatest fast bowler of all time!!!!
What is he on great bowler that Jimmy is he wouldn't get in the top 10 of greatest
fast bowlers.

Marshall, Holding, Garner, McGrath, Lillee, Thomson, Walsh, Steyn, Donald, Wasim and Waqar
were all better IMO thats straight off my head from my era.

He might have a case for Jimmy if you add an English and replace fast with swing. No doubt he was very good on his day, but he shouldn't be going to the Oval as a 1st choice bowler.

I don't fault him with the declarations tbh, the first match it set the tone, he just got let down in the field. The last match I thought batting once was the only way to win it.

With Jimmy I think it depends on your perspective. There are lots of bowlers you'd pick over Jimmy if you base it on what they could do on there best days, but Jimmy's consistency and longevity put him near the top of the list for me. Maybe not at the top of it but I wouldn't argue against it

I'd like to see the aussies cope with wood and tongue in tandem but despite the poor wicket returns he has been valuable in drying up runs at one end at times. Not very bazball but without that holding spinner it's not a bad call imo, even if I wouldn't have made it

Currently a heavy drizzle at the oval and really gloomy. I'm not optimistic today, it would be a massive win if we do it

There we go. A fair result overall, although a series we could and maybe should have won. Very entertaining throughout and a fairy tale ending (minus the urn) for Broad. I'll miss having it on.

Cracking series. Broad has been immense not sure about Anderson maybe time for him to go too and bring on the younger players. Also well done Australia for retaining the Ashes.

Great match, great series, sad it's over.

Gotta wait till January for the next lot.

Surely Jimmy is targeting the next milestone but I don't think he will call time on it, he'll just set another target until stokes makes the choice.
Woakes has probably missed a lot of opportunities through being too similar to jimmy I don't think that will happen again.

Not sure how long pope is out for, will we see stokes at 3 vs india to make room for foakes

Excellent and very entertaining series. Sad to see Broadly go, how are we going to replace him? Glad to see the back of Warner and Smith. "Crying on the telly, we saw you crying on the telly.........." The crowds were fantastic.

Don't think that's fair on Stokes to be honest they need to start planning for the future and get some of the younger bowlers blooded.
I'm sure that the goal is for Pope to be back then also Leach and will Stokes himself turn to spin. I'm sure they would rather have Bairstows quick runs than Foakes's better glovework but we will see.
One things for sure it will be a big test for they're style of play on a bunsen burner.

There's a lot of limited overs stuff coming up, plenty of time for injury to happen.
Im half expecting j Smith to have it off in the hundred and end up in India over foakes.

I think the pitches in India will be spicier than usual, and that might play into Jimmy's hands tbh
