I've caught a hell of a lot of fish too using chods , I'd be ultra confident using them in most situations , not just over chod and detritus

Been my favourite rig for the past ten years , I don't use it as much as I did but still absolutely deadly in the right situation over spreads of bait or singles ,they just can't deal with it , prefer long running on leadcore leaders as opposed to naked , in conjunction with a mini heli safe and lightest lead in an get away with

anyone used arma kord as a chod leader?

Even the sinking stuff doesn't sink very well so you would have to weigh it down somehow. It also has a reflective quality that makes it stick out like a sore thumb on the lakebed or through weed. I went over it on a boat when checking if my bait had been touched and stopped using it after seeing how blatant it is.

Couple of things I feel will add to the understanding of chod hooking mechanics, I think the hooking is done by a combination of the light lead, the fish closing its mouth around the bristle with hook point already facing in the perfect downward position,the weight of the leadcore but also something people forget is a large amount of slack line from tip of rod to leader. 50 yards of mono or even better fluro sat on bottom actually adds a fair bit of weight. This might also help people understand why the naked chod still works without leadcore. When fishing in weed and silt hopefully that lead is somewhat trapped by a bit of plugging or snarled in some weed. All these things combined you can see why it's far more effective that people give it credit for

Yep, most of the bites I have with chods are one toners (to the extent possible with tight clutches anyway.) When I get a few bleeps, 9 times out of 10 a bird pops up a second later. Never questioned it's effectiveness or efficiency.

Also to add that the line itself gets caught up & creates pivot points adding resistance.
I've been fishing it pretty much exclusively for the past year & I've grown to love the chod. Once you get it right it's such a devastating & versatile set up. The "chods for nods" isn't a fair expression IMO because it takes a lot of fine tuning to get it working efficiently. It's almost an art form & it's become a bit of an obsession for me TBH.
If there was only one rig I could use for the rest of my life, then I think it would probably be 'THE CHOD'.
