It tells them that the team needs a batsman more than a spinner

The broad injury would have driven that one
Hopefully wood is in the lineup tomorrow, they looked short on pace the last test

Broad out for the series!
A spinner will have to bowl a fair bit I'd imagine to tie an end up without the old stagers.

Shame he can't get a game in 1st class cricket while away...
If gets runs in the one day Cup this week he'll end up in the hundred

Sibley keeps his place Crawley gets dropped shame I'd rather keep Crawley more potential IMO.
Did you see any of that innings of Tim David in the last one day cup game just like Jacks fast hand speed and timing.

Only saw a brief highlight reel, the sort that could make sibley look destructive
Too much cricket to keep track of it all.
Enjoyed seeing Bangladesh destroy the aussie tho

Yeah sad news, didn't look good for him
In the short forms, England seem well above everyone, to the point they can cobble together a third string squad in a couple of days and still win a series against a very good team.
So something very positive has happened in white ball cricket in the past 6 years or so, we desperately need to get the likes of Roy, Jacks, salt, banton, livingstone..... Playing quality Red ball cricket.
It'd never happen but I liked kp's suggestion of a 1st class franchise tournament, with less teams and a higher overall standard
I thought foakes would play today, even if just as a batsman, looks like a cakewalk on paper

Sadly the money in white ball cricket will keep the red ball game ticking over at county level so the red ball game
will be lagging behind as it is now and i can't see it changing in the future.

I can't help feeling that the decision to put India in to bat will come back to haunt Root. If Rohit and Rahul reach 129 it will be the highest Test opening stand by a touring side against England in England after they have been asked to bat first (from the BBC's Andy Saltzman).
Edit: Good on ya, Jimmy! Cometh the hour, etc. Now bowl a few more like that.
