Root got one thing right before this tour
This series is how his tenure as captain will be remembered.
I expect stokes to take over by the next series, and I'm dreading it tbh

Agree with Root not so sure about Stokes after having a break for his mental wellbeing would he want to take on the
captaincy on top of expectations of him with bat, ball and in the field it was too much for Botham in the 80's and these days there is social media to deal with as well.
I think the likes of Crawley, Pope and maybe even Hameed have decent techniques but need the mindset, discipline and application of Test match cricket instilled into them also Foakes should have the gloves.
Livingstone is a talented cricketer who for me should be given a chance. Forget his record at CC Trescothick didn't have a mega CC record when Fletcher picked him.
Lastly Congrats to Australia they have beaten us soundly in all three tests.

I agree with you the captaincy is too much to put on stokes, but who else is there that
A: has experience
B: is a guaranteed pick in our strongest team
C: has 4 years in front of them
There are only 2 players who meet those criteria and one of them is root.
If we drop the experience bit we get malan and Robinson, the press will roast them.
If we drop b we'll have burns buttler or bairstow

At last they showed some fight in this test. Didn't think they would last the day but they managed it.
Crawley showed what he is capable of not forgetting YJB ton and a couple of sixty's for Stokes.
Surprised they didn't pitch the ball up to Broad but he done well lasting 35 balls.
Oh and Pope was better behind the stumps than Buttler has been all series.
Be a few changes for Hobart due to injuries.
At least it won't be a whitewash and they done it without the rain that was forecast.

If billings gets runs in the last game we'll probably never see foakes as a regular england keeper, such a shame imo.
I wonder who the new coach will be, and whether they go for 2 coaches for the different formats.

Totally agree by far the best keeper we got.
If Kirsten gets the nod he will only do the test side so they will have to change to me he's the best man for the job.

Might have shot himself in the foot with his recent comments but I agree, not sure the ecb will want to risk harming the cash cow short format tournaments to improve the 1st class game tho, and he'll probably insist on some changes
I still like kps 1st class franchise idea even though it won't happen
I see farbrace is in the frame for the aussie job

I'm going to predict that we'll win both series by one clear Test match. (God loves an optimist!)
I was joking at the time, but it has turned out to be a sour joke.
There's got to be a rethink on what it is we want from our elite (test) players. Offer them the sort of money that can get in India would be a start, but that's never going to happen. We thought Kerry Packer was bad, but the IPL is a hundred time more damaging.
Kevin Pietersen's plan makes a kind of sense.

You get the blame for the wicket then
You get the blame for the wicket then
7 Wickets for 39 runs
I cant even get angry or laugh anymore, I just expect it. Red ball cricket is dead in England unless this results in a MASSIVE shakeup at the ECB. It not about who will or wont get sacked anymore, its about the fundamental core of cricket and where it is going in England. I've never seen this level of cricket before from England.
Least its over now, least the humiliation has come to an end.
