anyone got a decent alternative to the tufty torch that actually does the same job, I'm far from tight but 55 quid for the bank life one seems steep.

Andy just taken a deep breath and buy one, they're unbelievably effective.
I'd held off for ages, but the little buggers were driving me insane, so I bit the bullet and bought one. Every single tuftie has left the pool and not returned and I haven't even got to turn the torch on

Yes m8 its unreal clears them at over hundred yards easy. Only works on them swans and other birds ignore it. But tufted ducks it clears the lot.

I think what the OP is after. Is there a cheaper alternative out there? It looks like a generic torch of the likes of Amazon. Is it really any diffrent to those?

for me if its cheaper it has to as effective, I'd rather buy the expensive one than 2 cheaper that don't work

The Carp Life Tutfty torch is as bright again as the cheaper ones on Ebay. I know as I have both.

My experience is that the Carp Life torch is twice as bright.

I tried cheaper options from ebay/amazon. And tried green and red ones. The carp life one worked way better.

It does work daytime but I don't think it's as effective if the light levels aren't low.

The carp life torch can't be charged directly in the torch body, do we have to take the battery out to charge it elsewhere?

Yes i take the battery out to charge in a separate charger which i keep at home but i also carry a spare charged battery.

One of the chargers can be plugged in to one of those portable chargers via usb lead.

I to bought a coupe of the cheaper ones that were being linked on here and found them no where near as effective as the carp life torch on the water im on it clears the tufties and coots in daylight but in bright sunshine isnt quite as effective

Yes you have to take the battery out but you can charge it from a powerpack no problem

I got one off amazon for £25 quid and it is brilliant super powerful with a zoom on too so you can light up islands at night to recast ect. Clears the whole lake of birds aswell

I've had 2 from Ebay but you must get the zoomable one the one that doesn't zoom is next to useless, I've had mine now for the best part of 5 years it will shift adult coots at about 20 yards too but the youngsters is another story , it uses those vape type batteries which I remove to charge or 3 aaa,s .At the time it wasn't listed as a tufty torch but cree torch from China

So the tufty torch sold by Carplife. Is just a re badged zoom able torch from the far East with added carp tax. And there was me thinking it was sending out some sort of sonic wave undetectable by humans. But sending bird life a bit doolally..who'd of thought it..

I think the original Merkko one is better, bigger and heavier than the Carplife one though, definitely better than the eBay ones anyway

The ebay ones work brilliantly even in daylight. The beam doesn't reach them like a laser pen. You just shine it towards them. I put in on zoom and flashing clears the lot.

I've found one on eBay that looks similar to mine it's 4 colour's in one , bear in mind though I've had mine probably 8 years plus from China this is 🇬🇧 stock so it could be crap but at a tenner suppose you can take a chance, it's item number 316092115834

That looks decent tbf anyone got one? I've got a green laser and used to be great day and night but seemed to lose power towards end of last year only working when it's really dark annoyingly.

I bought a convoy l21b red after a recommendation on here. It's a serious price of kit, seems to work on tufties. Moderate success with swans.

I've tried a few from ebay etc but none come close to the Merko, they were ok in very low light conditions but useless in daylight. Mine takes an 18650 battery which lasts for ages.
