Just wondering if these socks do the job or would I be better off purchasing the SealSkinz socks ?

What are you wearing then in? Might make your feet sweat which will make them cold. Better off with wool socks as if your feet get damp they will still stay warm.

Have a look at Smartwool hiking socks.

Not cheap but will last years and are the best thing you can put on your feet.
