I recently got a pair of daiwa spod reels, serviced and done a qd conversion on spool caps. They were nice to use on the last session but the drag on the marker was a bit grippy with the greasy felt and it needed an extra quarter turn to make it slacken off enough when plumbing up in 15-20ft of water 😥
So i have replaced the felt washers with some thin plastic washers made from a 4 pint milk carton.
Now its a quarter turn from locked to slack enough for me to easily pull of many feet of line without any grief.
Its far too abrupt for fishing with, but for the marker rod its ideal.
Are you sure?
