Thinking of trying braided mainline - possibly thinking anglers . Just worried if I should be concerned about any damage to the rod guides or are today's guides braid friendly .

If you have guides with a ceramic liner then braid will be fine. If you have some of the minima, vortex style guides which don't have a ceramic liner then braid is probably not suitable
