My friend has the above reels and has somehow managed to over tighten the handle screw which now just spins and won't tighten or undo leaving the handle in place. Any ideas how to get the thumb screw off and are these available to buy if he does manage to get it off?

Sounds like the metal threaded insert has come away from the plastic thumb screw part.
He might have to prise the plastic cap off, Mole grips maybe, then see if he can clamp onto the remaining stub of the metal threaded insert

Probably best of breaking of the plastic end cap and get a set of pliers on the end of it to undo it . Tell him to contact the tackle box in Kent 01322 292400 ask to speak to mark in reel servicing he carries a big stock of spares or if he ain't got spares . Daiwa sports they will probably will have spares
