Hi all I'm thinking of treating myself to a set of edward customs alarms and was just wondering whether to for the super + or r1 plus they are both the same price what's your recommendations obviously for people that have them

I would say the Super+ Bug eye with it being the latest they released and with the added enhanced speed bite detection sensing, I had the MK1 compacts originally and swapped them for the MK1 R+ with a mate of mine who had bought them he couldn't get on with the extra few buttons etc..on the R1+, mind you he is a simple being.

Super + .I have the Compact Mk1s and am gonna upgrade soon too.

Ive got the bug eye super pluses and love them. Look great, super reliable and do everything you could want an alarm to do.

Varta Lithium in the receiver,Varta Alkaline in the buzzers. Has been a reliable combo with no issues. From Amazon.

Rechargeable varta batteries or non Rechargeable?

I'm thinking of upgrading to a set of these - what are the differences between the two models?

from the website it looks like the supers have the 2 LED's & the R+ have the line movement feature?

is there anything else?

my nevs have the issue of the wheel touching the rod blank when fishing the tips up high - do these have the same problem?

Just the standard non rechargeable ones.

I've got them and fit a set of ECU rod risers, they're adjustable so whatever thickness blanks you have they work.
I use with super thin century FBS 2.75 rods and they work without issue, no gripes, I love them.

I energiser industrial 9v as I get them for free from work. They get them in boxes of 12 so just pinch a box when im running low.

I have the Super + as I wanted a bug eye type of indicator with more options than the Neville bug eye.

Its very old school looking, well built and looks and feels somewhat dated.
Good quality though and so far very reliable.

Just be aware that this is by far the quietest indicator I have ever seen or had. And I have had them all.

In the loudest setting you can hardly hear it 5m metres away!
Think about the quietest setting on any indicator you know.
This is the loudest setting on my Super +! Its hardy hearable.

I have no idea why this is so and it does not seem to be a defect. So better be aware of this. Why someone would buy a speaker bung for this I dont know :-D!

Also the free weel lends itself to the line being placed easily beside it. No indication then.
Just something to be aware of reg. the construction.

Its not cheap and I wouldnt buy it again. Also bought the lighted indicators to be cool but they were total crap as they would not securely attach to the indicators so would only work half of the time.

There are other, better indicators out there. But none with the bug eye of course other than the Nevilles which are hard to get and expensive.

Yes agree they are quiet compared to most alarms but I can easily hear them 5 yards away even with blue kudos speaker cones fitted. Im due a change of alarm though as had them a couple of years but not sure what to get. I was hoping fox would of brought a new smaller rx out by now.

I get bored of stuff pretty quickly and i might like the next ones even more. If you dont keep trying new things then you never know whats out there.
