hi all,im after peoples opinions and thoughts on comfort whilst fishing on the public waters in France(possibly Spain or others).Has anyone seen,used or 1st hand knowledge of the use of a overland camping pod(towed by a pickup) on any waters?rules ,regulations etc
ive seen height barriers on a few access roads to lakes to prevent the Romany population from pitching up but these pods are same height as my pickup so shouldnt be a problem.
Im asking about the micro pods such as the Hero Ranger type (sorry not a techy so cant do links) not the 40ft airstream model before you all go mad at me!
Just to put you in the picture ,its for health reasons as im on 18 weeks intensive chemo for bowel cancer thats come back and im thinking ahead ,outside the box a bit.gives me something to do while im sat here in hospital today!
By the way ,just want to say ,if you have any of the symptoms(however minor) get them checked out asap,early diagnosis is way preferable than the last 18months ive endured!
Any feedback and opinions(good or bad)would be gratefully appreciated guys

I imagine it would be possible on some lakes and not on others, probably more about access and how open/visible you'd be as much as anything.

All ‘public' waters are under the responsibility of local associations who decide their individual rules regarding night fishing and camping. Some do not permit it at all; some permit but require pre-booking and may also impose extra fees.
Best way is to contact the association where you plan to fish.
Do you know which region you might visit? (I could point you to the relevant associations and contacts)

yes understand about being discreet,definately a green 1!these things are micro pods,not as conspicuous as white van man ive seen parked behind swims in some videos!
i parked the pickup and trailer for my boat on the side of a lac de barrage for 10 days in October and the guard de peche didnt take any notice,that was in Normandy.
my thinking was it would be handy to use on longer trips to stop overnight and break journey up,
would use bivvy in circumstances i couldnt access a particular swim and park it in public carpark
thinking further south Bordeaux area ,always wondered about Lacanau,or even further like Soustons,mimizan
so many lakes on my bucket list! ha!

Lacanau (and Leon) in that area I'd avoid tbh... Lots of little commons. You should be able to camp on Petite Biscarosse but may struggle on the big one... There is only a small amount of the lake available for nights and it is 'guarded' due to the vicinity of the military area, likewise Sanguinet.

thanks for the reply,appreciate advice on the venues( but am not after anyones hard earned secrets( please pm if you want to name anything sensitive youd rather not put out on a public forum).there seems to be plenty of info if you have the time (which unfortunately i have at moment!)to trawl through it on the internet these days.
im not out chasing monsters,i just love France for the unspoilt rural scenery, tranquility and space ,(unlike this overcrowded island!),not forgetting the food and the people(although some are a bit 'frosty 'since Brexit!).i am very respectful that these public venues are some Frenchmans local water ,something i think that gets overlooked by some these days.
I did fish Lacanau back in 1989 lovely vast lake with a sandy bottom, with a few campsites on its shores.Caught some small commons and alot of poisson chats then(on Richworth Carribean cocktail if i remember!,ah the memories!),just wondered if they had gotten any bigger or have they been nicked?? ha!
Back on topic has anyone seen in the flesh a micro camper pod(Hero Ranger or similar )or being used at public venues? these things are only 8' lpng and 6' high so smaller than a 2 mam Titan!
any thoughts?

I have an older friend who has something similar that he uses for longer trips at campsites over here.
He loves it for the comfort & security from the elements & says it's much better than a bivvy. His only complaints are that he says it means he takes too much kit now & he can't see as much of the lwater when he's in bed.
Good luck with your adventure & take care on your travels - I was very sick many years ago & was super keen to get out fishing & found it very easy to overdo it - especially on setup / packdown (which of course these will help with).
