Morning chaps
The battery connector clip on my boat has a loose connection and to my untrained eye it seems to be the metal insert on the male connector (the one attached to the boat) that has opened up. The connectors are the standard Tamiya ones. Am I ok to buy a pre-wired replacement connector, cut the wires to the old one and just join the wires together (twist and tape) with those on the new connector. Will that work? Just wanting a quick fix and to avoid sending the boat back to AT for what seems like an easy fix.

It's a while ago, but I swapped the poor bullet connectors for spade terminals.
You could twist wires together but much better if soldered.

Mate - the Tamyia connectors that AT use are rubbish.
changing them to something like XT90's or similar would be your best bet. They're easy to change if you're happy using a soldering iron. I have a background in electronics so it's a trivial thing for me but understand if you're not used to using a soldering iron it could be a bit intimidating. If you're not comfortable changing them yourself, I'd recommend finding a local model shop, and take all your batteries, boat and charger(s) and ask them to swap the connectors over to XT90s - it really wont cost a lot and you wont have trouble going forwards.

I might see if they want to do them all for me at some point though as I think my Yamyia ones all have some degree of corrosion from long term use.
