Visited Windsor today for something to do with the misses, whilst on a 40 min boat trip up the river I noticed a few anglers bivvy'd up along the river Ascot racecourse side up to the big weir, I notice they also were parked along the river near or behind the swims via what looked like access from the racecourse ? Anyone have any information about this ?

They're fishing for carp, looking for the next record, avoid at all costs and try upstream. Read the " Best swim on the Thames" for inspiration, the crowd are not worth following.

Just curious to know if it's a syndicate section of river or club run etc, or free stretch i didnt see anyone walking the race course bank just the handful of anglers, some Bivvy'd up, some fishing from there vans, I suppose im asking for info who runs that stretch and is it private access for the anglers that ascot bank side ?

The section of river is on Windsor racecourse and is on the civil service club ticket. It's a great stretch, the hotspot is the marina you access at the back via a back channel (ref Google maps)
Great fishing along the whole stretch , vehicle access to most swims. There are some big barbel, and it rarely gets busy

Civil Service Angling Society stretch on Windsor Race Course. Associate membership is full / closed so only available if you are a civil servant, in whatever capacity.
Used to be quiet but now very popular with specimen types after the barbel and carp.
Not uncommon to arrive on a Friday in the summer to find bivvy after bivvy on the stretch.

Was a member, very busy, have to work around the race meetings too.

I am a member (Associate) and as far as i`m aware associate membership is closed for the foreseeable future.
