Am thinking of pulling the trigger on a set.
Fed up with false sensitivity & rod resting on the roller when the tips are up high on my nevs. Not to mention my hearing is screwed so I struggle to hear them on the mid setting.
Any long term reviews - I fish rivers & big waters so the false indication setting will definitely get used.
Are they as reliable as the R3's & dare I say it, Nevilles?

The whole concept of indication based on speed of movement had me sold from the first Nash sirens the RS1. The design of the concept eliminates false bleeps due to wind and weed and gives you confidence that if they sound then a fish is responsible.
I've had a set of R4s for a while now and while I like them, and would not swop them for any other alarm there are a couple of negatives.The primary one for me is the tones. I like a low tone, well on the R4s this isn't available, only a large number of slightly different high tones. The other negative is that for my fishing they have too many features that I am unlikely to use. But I do accept others might find them useful, but I'm paying for features I'll never use.
Plus points are...Battery life is fantastic, you don't get false bleeps, the receiver has good range even with heavy vegetation. This reliability is what I find so appealing.

I've had the original RS1 since they came out until last year, and only changed to the R4 this year because I wanted new alarms (and a little bit because the LEDs on the RS1 where quite ****ty to see during daytime).
So far the R4 have not disappointed at all, there is nothing not to like. They have been in the worst weather (torrential rain of 70 liters per m2 in one night) and have not let me down, just like the RS1.

I've had the R4s since they came out. Whilst they are a fantastic alarm I did have a problem with two of them in that they wouldn't turn off and it sounded like an electrical short when you pressed the button. Nash took them back and fixed them but one has started to do the same periodically. I had the old R3s before this and they were faultless. Without doubt I believe the Nash alarms are the best on the market and only seem to sound when something is happening out in the lake. No bleeps in the rain etc unlike delkims! I must admit that I don't use all the functionality of the R4s so in hindsight I should probably have stuck with my old R3s.
