I've never used pre prepared tigers before, I was wondering once the can/jar is opened how long have you got until they turn off?
Many thanks.

I would think at least a season, probably longer. I opened a pot in June & they are still fine.

Really? I guess depends on the time of year but I find they jelly up in a week and are gone too far a week later.

When you say gone too far, what do you mean?

Past the sweet gloopy stage and into thinner more vinegary liquid in a week or so. I'm sure that they will still be taken at this stage, but my point is that they are actively turning fairly quickly. I wouldn't expect more than a few weeks before they are going past vinegary into rancid.

Freeze them.
If you are only using them as hookbaits, put some in a bag and press the bag flat before freezing, then just break some off on the day

I can't I have a freezer full of bait as it is, ready for the autumn bait up 😀,
I normally boil my own tigers as I like to get the real sticky before freezing.
Never used pre prepared ones before.

Mainly using them as hook baits and throwing 20 or so around the area. Avoiding the bream and tench with any luck.

If it's just small amounts then grab a can & split it up into a number of smaller baggies to freeze & use as & when you want to - will hardly take up any space.
if you want to preserve them for use then pour the jar into a bucket with a load of neat coke poured over them - give em a good stir to get the gas out, seal the lid & leave them in a cool dark place. had some for about 6 months like that with no issues.
