Hello,

I've blown the dust off of my optonic and want to change the bolt and thread at the bottom to a stainless one. Has anyone else done this and can offer any advice on what to order?

Look for an optipolo.
You can get them in metal and stainless. The polo has shoulders to prevent the dreaded optonic twist, and comes with the metal bolt.
Look at the "other items to consider" for alternative bits.
