Not 100% sure as to it's lack of availability, as it's popularity has waned over recent years, not sure if it is due to market demand or rising costs, or limited shelf life for wholesalers compared to other ingredients.

But it seems that the more popular one nowadays is WPC80.

This was a good few years ago now, but some places may have been selling WPC80 as a 'Lactalbumin' substitute.

Insoluble Lactalbumin which is I assume what you are referring too, ceased to be available when the food industry stopped using it ,or they purchased it direct not through the New Zealand Milk Products supplier in the UK, no one in the bait industry could justify the amount required to bring it in, bait sales could not justify them stocking it .
Lactalbumin is readily available though it is Soluble ,it is sold as whey protein concentrate.
New Zealand Milk Products sacks of Whey Protein Concentrate ,also had Soluble Lactalbumin
printed on them.
It may well be that you can get Lactalbumin from the continent ,but it could well be just WPC .
I think the insoluble Lactalbumin we used to buy from NZ Milk Proteins was call Lactol 80 or something similar , It had no binding capability at all.
Are you sure?

This action cannot be undone.
