Saw these for the first time today, with the intent to buy, the rings look so flimsy, especially the single legs, put me off completely, will have to make do with my old B Ashby rocketeer until I find another choice.

Never ever have single leg guides on a spod rod

In the pictures i seen its the platinum that had single legs. That's a big money spod rod too.

Thankyou for confirming my thoughts, I would've thought if ever there was a need for a robust set of rings, it would be on a spod rod.

Correct . You are flinging some weight about on a spod rod .

I replaced my original (from the 90's) Bruce Ashby Rocketeer with a Shimano 13ft TX Extreme Spod. Cost about £160. One of the best buys I have made in years. I can cast a midi Spomb in excess of 40wraps.
Something I have also switched to is the Korda Spod/Marker braid, on the recommendation of a friend. When I was spooling up I thought that it was so fine that it was a frap up waiting to happen, but it is excellent. Using it for over a year now with a 6m 40lbs braid shock leader.

Get yourself a Harrison Spod rod.......... no looking back,,,

I've an old Big Bertha which will see me out, already had it about 25 years.
