I bought a pair of these reels in the Angling Direct black Friday sale, they were only £32 each with My AD discount, a big pit sized spool and slow oscillation, sounds perfect...
These were the spod/marker variation, so came pre-loaded with 200m of 25lb braid.
I had previously bought the Okuma custom spod reel and was considering the above reels as an upgrade.
Once they arrived I had a little play with them and they looks excellent, until I checked the line clip...
The clip is very tight and it's difficult to get the braid under the clip. After four or five attempts I noticed the braid was beginning to fray. The next few attempts saw the braid cut off on the outer lip of the line clip. I tested the second reel and found it exactly the same.
The edge of the line clip is almost like a knife edge.
I contacted Angling Direct by phone (01603400870) and they are sorting out free return and full refund with no quibble.
