Hi all. I know there's a couple of threads on each of these but couldn't find a comparable one between the two bivvys. So apologies for starting another thread.
Basically I'm in the market for a new bivvy (had enough of inflating the kampa air after 5 years) so narrowed it down to these two, although I also like the look of the trakker tempest 150.
Anyone with any knowledge on the two? Weight, strength (I'd imagine the solar stainless steel block system would be stronger?) quickness, height (backs starting to dislike the low bivvys) material etc just all the usual info would be very much appreciated.

Hello mate,
I have had both the Frontier XD and now the Solar Uni Spider. From a build quality/longevity POV, the Solar wins hands down. The plastic spreader block on the frontier is crap (imo), far too many potential fail points. The solar (aluminium, not stainless) spreader block is far more robust and simple with far less areas it could fail.
Weight wise, the solar is much lighter - but obviously smaller so to be expected. Pack down size is much more manageable too. I believe it's 140cm height, coming from the XD it is far lower but for me personally it's a positive as can be a handful trying to set up the XD when you are vertically challenged
Speed wise, I can get my solar up quicker than the XD, and another added bonus for me is the zipped in groundsheet.
Purchased the 0.5m extension a month or two back too so can turn into a 2 man when the lad comes, or extended space when weather is crap. It's a full wrap extension so will be a good addition in winter.
