I've just switched over to helicopter setups got my next session next week
How good are they with boom and Ronnie/ spinners
My lake is very silty
I've only used leadclip setup before
Where I've never used them before I'm not very confident in them

works absolutely spot on,you can even use a stiff boom like the Gemini ones if you wanted to. I use these with a heli set up with a ronnie and fish silty waters in the North West. just get that top bead pushed up the required distance and the boom will slide up to the top bead and settle down nicely on top of the silt.

The set up you probably should of been using in the situation you describe from the start, it could improve your catch rate. I only ever fish ronnies and stiff booms on a heli 👍

you can tie some white string / wool type material to the the leader amd have a cast, feel the lead down on a tight line and reel in without letting everything go slack,the depth of the silt will be indicated on the string.
you could ask a bailif,always a good source of info

My go to for silty lakes, and in fact just most scenarios. Heli, stiff boom and a pop-up on a spinner.
Generally it's guesswork with the top bead, but I usually have mine set to about 10 inches.

Just remember that the helicopter rig in these situations, is not for the hooking potential, but more for the fact you are presenting, and ensuring the rig etc isnt deing pulled into the silt and being held up off the bottom
Lead size will impact on how deep in the silt the lead burys itself, but its unlikely to go that deep into it, especially if you are hitting the clip and feeling the lead down.
Dont go mad with the top bead, id try about 10cm - 15cm to start and go from there.

Also consider a soft hooklink as that will help with presentation

If you didnt think you was having any trouble with the lead clips dragging rigs into the silt, id suggest its not too deep. Id start off with the top bead lower, about 3 cm. Will still give a better presentation than a leadclip of the lead burys itself. But keep the rig nearer the weight
