I can't find an icey tek 25 cool box in stock, I can't bring myself to pay 250/300 for a yeti so I've been looking at the dometic 22's. Come in a nice green and ever so slightly cheaper than the iceys. Look very similar. What I want to know is are they as good? From searching old topics the iceys were highly rated. Any users of both? How do they compare?

Dometics are good but not in the same league as an icy tec or yeti. The dometic is a much better size than icy tec though. Ive got a yeti roadie 24 now and thats the perfect size and performs as well as tthe icy tec i had. Yeti is a much better shape for putting in the car as its taller and narrower so goes behind car seat. I didnt pay anywhere near 250-300 for mine it was £175 with free delivery from sportfish. I dont think yeti do the nice green colour anymore though in the roadie 24.

Thanks Stu, how long does the dometic keep stuff frozen for? If the dometic lasts long enough it may be the better option for me. It will be going on the Barrow to my swim, from what I understand the iceys and yetis weigh a ton?
I got the prices wrong on yeti, was looking at the 35/45. The 25 are £200 now though. Just too dear tbh, I'm screwing at the thought of paying £120 for a cool box but my cheap old Coleman one just doesn't last so I'm going to have to cough up

I never do more than 48hrs mate and dometic was good for that. The dometic is defo the best size then the yeti, the icy tec was huge.

Depends on your own habit firsts. How much you put in it. How you fill it and how many times you open it. For some reason my 22 didn't nearly perform as well as my 42. Ended up getting a replacement and then returning that as well. Also didn't like the clumsy shoulder strap (useless) and it didn't have handles like the bigger ones do, making it a pain to carry.
Lasted a maximum of 24 hours, which any cheap box will do (or even outperform). My 42 lasts all weekend easily. I've read that the lids on these do not seem to close properly, allowing heat inlet. Get a 42 (brilliant) or any other brand.

Agree the shoulder strap was crap and one of the reasons i got rid of it.

My Coleman 28QT Xtreme Marine kept ice longer and cooled better than the Dometic cool ice 22, expected more from the Dometic.
The Fox Aquos cool bag/box is decent enough. I have the 20l and it will keep ice cold for 72 if you look after it and pack properly. Bought it as an alternative to lugging the Iceytek on the boat if I only need food and drink for one.
