How long will Maize last in this weather we are having at the minute.
Is there a way to get it to last the 5 days its needed for. I don't want to load with salt or preservatives

I guessed that. As below says dont worry about it, it will actually get better over the time frame you mentioned.

Boil it , let it cool. put it into fizzy pop bottles and fill to top with liquid it will last for ages if you keep the air out by filling it to the top.

Just leave the buckets out in the sun let the heat ferment the maize and you'll essentially have a bait that's more effective with zero effort in regards to freezing/thawing etc.
It's the best bait i've ever used. Nothing comes close to fermented particles in terms of the ability to keep carp feeding on one spot for a significant period.
There's a whole thread devoted to fermented maize on here.

There is a difference between fermented particles and particles that just go rancid though

2.5kg in a bucket
Filled with boiling hot water and cover by about 3-4inches to allow full absorption
Soak for 24hrs
Boil for 20mins
Pour straight into a bucket and chuck in a good few handfuls of brown sugar
Make sure the bucket is airtight
Leave in a nice warm room for up to a week
Use a spoon and get all the gooey goodness at the bottom to mix in with the rest of it
2.5kg of dry maize will weigh close to 5kg when done

I prefer to substitute some of the water for pure orange juice (not the shelf life stuff), no need for the added sugar this way, outstanding.

Its ok as long as just maize if mixed with hemp not so good.

I know you said you dont want to add a load of salt to it but it is probably your best bet... its an amazing natural preservative and the fish absolutely love it, as an added bonus it also makes it PVA friendly. keep adding salt until PVA doesn't melt in the liquid and you are good for months.
You could also freeze half of it and keep it in a cooler with ice packs, use the unfrozen half for the first half of your session (also kept in the cooler) then the frozen stuff will have defrosted and will be ready to use for the second half of your session.
