Fishing a lake 20ft deep every duck on the lake is sitting over my spot constantly.any reasons why ? Could it be fish stirring bottom up etc just strange as soon as its light ducks are straight there

They can smell the food.
I have often baited up and cast out in the day time and an hour or two after dark a few tufted ducks have landed on the water. These are by far the worst offenders...
They circle the lake, pass over my baited areas, circle it, then approach from downwind. They suddenly stop on the edge of the baited area when they can no longer smell the food, and now they do a small circle and they have pinpointed their dinner.
It's great to have a green lazer or tuftie torch to move the little sh1ts down the lake

Or just chuck out another spod.

Just feed them off on bread or cheap floating pellets and they'll forget all about your spot
I quite like having them around and watching their behaviour, sometimes easy to know when the carp have arrived by the ducks spooking

My lake is shallow and loads of the fluffy conts on it! They literally have built in GPS and dive on you whenever your backs turned. They do my head In BUT, if you watch them you can see when a carps there as they are all on edge and jittery, constantly looking down but backing away. Really interesting to watch. Had it last year, 15-20 diving on me then see then get jittery, next min a carp poked his head out and 5 mins later a 39 was in the net

Things is, Tufted duck and Pochard don't feed by dabbling, they dive, so floating food is of little use.
One of these, though, is perfect for the job
