Have a look at the Premier Air, good price seems to be £156 at the mo, Aussie Heat Beads are a good fuel

Personally I find the cobb cobblestones best on these, so quick and easy to light and really quick to be ready to cook on. I know speed is not always really a concern but it really helps when you just want to cook 'now'

on my 2nd Cobb and my advice buy the Premier AIR its the rsult of things learned on the previous models and improvements have been made
FUEL
FIRE LIGHTERS
dont use kerosene blocks ! they smell and can taint your grub instead use the little wood shaving wax coated type much better tried loads these are the best 8 to 10 mins clear flame no smoke a box will light around 125 cobbs so despite the intial out lay very cost effective linky poo

Cobblestone
easy fast to light half a firelighter (wood shaving one) ready in to cook on in about 2 to 4 mins cooking time 1 1/2 to 2 hours

Heat beads
take longer to light and take up to 30 minutes to be ready for cook on
BUT burn hotter and much longer 2.5 - 3 hours cooking time AND you can add more without problems as they dont have an accelerant

Weber Briquettes
7 briquettes burn hot and for 3 hours plus BUT !!!!
I dont like em as when they burn down they produce a very light fluffy dust that blows everywhere !!

now my favourite !!! Au Natural Applewood Restaurant Grade Charcoal (RCB10A)
They are extruded, pushed through dies in the same way that pasta is made. They come as long tubes that you can cut to size so that they can be stood upright in the Cobb Firebasket like their own mini chimneys
take the longest to light but last the longest
3cm lengths burns about 3 hours, and 5cm about 5 hours you can put them out with water and relight them next time too
This is my long weekend fuel click on the picture to make it bigger

I don't even use firelighters these days, just lift the fire basket thing out with the prong tool, thingy (technical term) and get the coals (or whatever your choice of fuel is) on your gas stove, then lift back in. Takes less than a minute to get them going and no lingering smell from the firelighters.

I do that to get my cobblestones going after having to do it for some cheap knock offs, only takes a seconds to get the proper cobb ones going.

Although I also have a jet / windproof type lighter that works too in maybe about 15 seconds. Either way, really no need for firelighters on a cobblestone

I now also have a folding chimney starter to share between bbq and cobb although I have also just got the bbq kit for the cobb to get the bigger coal basket and different grill.
Are you sure?
