I bought a stock of fast melt mesh, not knowing you could get slow melt. As I regularly fish depths between 25 & 35ft I am of the opinion that the bag is opening before it hits bottom. Am I right in thinking that if I dip the bag in oil before casting, it will slow the break down?

Correct dip it in oil or glug it while setting up and it will delay the melting time

As mentioned oil and double up the mesh, EAP do a good slow melt mesh.

Yes best PVA you can get
I been using their stuff for around 18 years and the slow melt for about 11 years they used to sell huge unpacked bulk rolls never had a bad batch
