Has anyone had issues with free spirit hi-s arms breaking. Had my previous greys net 15 years with no issues. Have had the free spirit net arms break twice now. Each time with fish Once with a 12 pounder 2nd with a 28lber after I broke the net down. At 70 pound a pop 3rd time a charm is nearly the cost of a new net. Luckily I haven't paid once as FS replaced the first time. I am now attempting to joint the two broken sets into one fresh set as only two bars broke. Anyone know how to get the cord out of the stainless tip? Anyone use alternative arms they know work. I do like the net just confidence is low

Sounds a bit odd.
I have had a s net over ten years and a s lite net a year and never had a problem.
I have friends who have had hi's nets for over ten years and never had a problem.
Have you compared it with a similar net and spreader block to see if there made the same.
I changed my cord by heating the metal bit with a lighter.

Jesus thank god someone has had them years. I don't know anyone who has one to compare but the handle and spreader are solid. Just the arms keep breaking even though well looked after. Really weird as one broke as fish kicked in the net. 12 pounder broke one as was lifting on to the mat. Savage net otherwise

It won't be a popular opinion, but I have 2 of these and had an arm go in one. Not through misuse but I believe that it is near impossible that enough net with this type of block design to be robust. It is a fashion item, great looking but it has about 30mm with a spigot attached to carbon arms. There isn't an engineer outside of fishing that would ever suggest such a set up. No matter how careful you are bending and tensioning 12mm tapered carbon arms with stainless inserts is bonkers.

My slite net doesn't look as strong as the s net.
It's had about ten fish in it since I bought it last some most of which where mid twenties to low thirties and all ok so far.

i had one snap also, hasn't broken in about 2 years, but is now my backup net as got the korda one which is far superior IMO.

Yes mine snapped first time I used it .never had a fish in it it was about 4 inches up the arm got back to the shop and they said it was my fault .now way

I forgot how bendy the hi s net after using one not long ago. The handle is way to thin in your hand so feels uncomfortable and hard to grip. The rods are nice but dont like the net at all.

Had a hi S net for a couple months and as mentioned previously it was so floppy it would just collapse when netting a fish. Not cheap either, sold it and bought the esp. Much better
