Just back from a blank fishing over a new lake. It's a deep lake only about 3 acres (Not sure on stock maybe 50 carp I was told) No other species that I know of but not too much info, The lake is square shape (farmers res) reed lined with a few small weed beds either end. The lake is like a bath it drops off fairly close in to about 8ft then slides away down to 25-27ft
I was told zigs are the way to go perhaps but have personally never used adjustable ones and don't really like using them as I'm stuck in the dark ages.
I fished one end and had fish showing in front of me right near some scattered bolies and one of my rods and moved another close by but never had a touch so I really don't know if the fish were feeding over my bait or not.
Any advice on how you would approach this type of lake?

At 27ft deep I don't think you have any other option than to use an adjustable zig.
There are some decent videos that explain how they work, once you have one in your hand it will all make sense.

Adjustable zigs,I hated zig fishing but now I wouldn't go without my adjustable zig kits.

Yeah I still really hate the idea of it... just doesn't feel like fishing if I can't bait up!

The lake I fish 26 foot is a great depth to catch carp on the deck .

Put a sloppy spod mix over the top,I do this with heavier food items in it.I find doing it this way I can put a rod on the bottom too

The carp will feed on the bottom (that's where a lot of food for them is) the meres I fish are all deep and carp are regularly caught in depths of 25 - 30ft! Takes a bit of getting ya head around it when the lead takes an age to drop and hit bottom but at the end of the day it's their home and they will know every inch of the lake, they will be catchable at 27ft fish the way you are comfortable and the bites will come

I fish in 60ft of water using adjustable zigs and catch plenty on them the key is to watch how the fish are showing and fish zigs when they are eating a hatch of fly.
And pick the rod up for and beep you get as there's next to no indication
Don't be scared to fish the deeper water on the deck either ino lads that have had the out of 57ft on the bottom

many years ago not that long after Gigantica in France opened ( its a very deep lake )
there was a very hard winter and the lake froze it was a fair few weeks it remained frozen over
and finally it thawed and of course every swim was taken up well the FIRST 6 FISH TO BE CAUGHT
were ALL ON ZIGS !! in fact Im pretty sure nobody else caught that week either

they say fish zigs at night but if theres next to no indication like you say below i'd be worried about just sleeping through the bites - any tips on fishing zigs at night ?
