humminbird helix 7 gps g4n New toy for a week long trip to Holland question is what are people running there ecos on battery wise? I'm ordering a 100ah lithium battery for the outboard (55lb) will that last a week only using it 5 days as a couple will be on a different venue. Can I run the eco on the same battery or is it best to buy a separate one?
Run it on the same battery is what I do and it's fine 👍

It's easy to work it out. Look up what power draw is for your unit. I think being a smaller 7" screen yours will be around 1A. Multiply that by 12 to get the W = 12. Then multiply the battery amp rating by 12. to get it's W. For example 50 A/h battery will be 60 W. Then divide the battery capacity by the sonar draw in W. That will tell you how many hours life you'll get from the battery. So, for example, for your sonar, a 12v 12A/h battery will last 12 hours. If you want to know how long it'll last on the 100 A/h you have, you'll need to add the figures for the trolling motor, using the same math I have described here.
Personally, for hire boats, I run seperate batteries for my trolling motor and fishfinder - I use two networked Garmin Echomap Utras (12" screens), Garmin UHD 56 and Livescope Plus transducers - that's all to a 100 A/h lithium and then my bow mount trolling motor, a Minnkota Ultegra, is hooked up to another 100 A/h lithium. You are wise to get Lithium batteries - 2/3 of the size and weight of lead acid, plus you can run them right down to 10%, as opposed to 50% with a lead acid. I'm a pike angler by the way, who also fishes for carp. LOL.

Nice one for the reply buddy I'm back from my trip now, not the best when it comes to working with electronics but that kinda of makes sense, I ended up running Botha my outboard and the eco off of my lithium battery and I'm glad I spent the money on buying a lithium battery because it did the job perfectly done a week fishing and if the voltage meter on the outboard was right it only dropped from 13.2 too 12.7 the whole trip. I don't really know if that's good or not but I'm well impressed.
