Looking to get a 13ft spod now and torn between sticking with the CFX tacklebox rod or get the shimano. Similar in cost.

Just looking for any user reviews on the shimano

Yep its a great rod, much more capable than I am, I had a Greys 12ft £100 thing before and the difference is night and day. Terry Edmonds could probably chuck a spomb half a mile with it. Worth every penny imho.

Cheers buddy. Most shimano stuff rod wise is top notch

Have the 12foot version and must say it's an amazing rod. Cast's like a dream. So light in the hand as well. Spodding with it is no longer a chore.

I've gone with the shimano so I'll report back how I get on next few weeks

13ft model. Rods fantastic more capable than me.

Longest spombing so far was 172 yards with a trailing wind. Regular casts of 140-150.i prefer the nash dot spot and midi x spomb I think it is allows me to cast quicker.

Large spomb is fine but slows my cast down to much for range work.

Haven't used to its full potential but on waters I fish have baited accurately up to 130yds Using a midi spomb and also an alien spod.
