The wife has kindly booked a weeks fishing in the summer at Olivemead Lakes.
Can anyone offer any advice / tips for the fishing, and any rules that may be relevant.
I have checked the website and the rules seem very minimal.
Can you use a bait boat, but as it's only 3 acres i doubt this would be needed. Is the rod limit 3 rods?
Also can anyone help with local amenities, as the missus thinks she will go mad sitting round a lake for 5 days, is there any local shopping for her. Any decent takeaways / restaurants / pubs etc.
All advice and tips will be greatly appreciated.

Myself and a mate did 48 hours there in November...fishing from the Main Lodge...blanked...
Nice little lake but not easy by any stretch of the imagination! A small, very pressured lake which is fished almost every day of the year. Father and Son run it, really nice blokes, lodges are fairly basic but clean and comfortable.....it was really weird sleeping in a proper bed with my receiver on the bedside table!
Rod limit is 2 per angler, yes you can use baitboats but they aren't necessary. Pegs are marked with bouys to show your swim limits, the fishable water for some lodges are tighter than others but you get a reasonable amount of water.
You are right next to the M4 so the traffic noise is constant but you do get used to it. We had takeaways both nights, Dominoes Pizza and a Local Chinese, both delivered to the lake.
Swindon is about 20 minutes away if your Missus wants to take herself off for a few hours.

I hope you dont mind but could you help me out with a few bits of info
Did you try their own boilies.
Will they allow the use of rigmarole tubing? It does state no braided material above the lead. It's not braid as such, but it does have a woven braid around the steel tube.
The missus wont be fishing so i think i maybe able to fish 3 rods, not really fussed though 2 rods is plenty. With it being fished practically full every day of the week,, i was thinking going easy on freebies and fishing for a bite at a time.

Don't know on the tubing, can't see why not but I know some fisheries don't allow/like the Rigmarole stuff.....best ask.
Didn't use their boilies, to be honest, I didn't even realise they did their own! Definitely agree on going light on the bait, it definitely sees a lot in there....little traps down the margins were recommended.
To be honest, even if you can fish with 3 rods I would probably only use 2. Like I said it is a small venue and less lines in the water would be better IMO.

I'll probably buy 5kg of his bait and use the tried and tested DNA SLK and see what's works, i can always buy more of their bait if its doing the business.
Ill send him an email regarding the tubing, only stated using it this year and its a godsend,

Sadies and willow, particularly willow are the more productive swims on the lake, the fish seem to live that end and visit the other end.
They feed the fish using there own bait during quiet periods so they will be used to eating it.
It's a strange lake, it seems to shut up shop for a while then one swim will do 5+ in a week then quiet again. It's a lot trickier than it looks on paper. Hopefully u will time it right.
Sadies is a good bit of water, don't ignore the margins. From what we have caught about 1 in 3 is a 30.

Fished it a couple of years ago from the main lodge, and it's not as easy as you'd think. We had about 5 fish with the biggest being just over thirty. Most fish came from the right of the main lodge, in the small bay shaped areas, but it does get weedy. Sticky Manilla with Manilla wafters as hookbaits were what I went in with.

Just a quick update if anyone is interested, they do not allow rigmarole tubing.
You can if you want fish 4 rods from a lodge if you're the only person fishing, i will still be keeping to 2 maybe 3 rods, i will assses when i arrive....
I normally only fish 2 smallish syndicate lakes, which neither respond well to heavy baiting, how much bait would you generally take for 5 days fishing, i was thinking 10kg of boilies, some pellets and maybe some particles....
