Anyone else had this. Just bought some greys aircurve rods and the reel foot seems too big for the reel seat. Only just seems to grab it a little on the foot

Yeah its a common overlooked problem , I always need to know what reels the customer is using before fitting reel seats .

Think I'll have to buy some new reels and keep these 5000t for maybe the catfish rods . Shame asi like the rods and like the reels , never thought they wouldn't fit

Have some new reel seats on those aircurves. You will be fixed for 50 buck a rod!

I have aircurves and 5000ts I just give them a tighten when setup and had no issues at all.

I was wondering about this but didn't want to break the reel fittings by over tightening , or as I live a far way away from any lake get there to find the reelsdrop off on the cast
They do seem to grip the reels but not by much hence my questioning. If yours are ok on the big chuck maybe I'm worrying over nothing

5000T don't have a particularly large foot. I'd be very surprised if they didn't fit a recent Greys build. I reckon you just have to tighten them up a bit.

I believe my aircurve rods are the mk1 rods. Don't know if that makes any difference .
I'm just used to them sitting a lot further under the reel setting but maybe I have nothing to worry about and it's just me

You should be able to get at least one full turn on them otherwise they will loosen, not ideal but will be ok.

Just looked up the standard build of the MK1 and they use Fuji DPS18 seats. These should be fine with a 5000t.

Fuji dps 18 will accomodate any reel apart from sea reels.If using fuji dnps thats when people get caught out as you need to go up to a 20. Unless the rods are fitted with a dps 16 then there shouldnt be any issue ?
