I am looking for a 9 or 10 ft stalking rod and reel that is good for stalking only. Money is not an object so will consider high end rods , for the reel I like personally Shimanos , so what do you lads on here recommend.

Greys 9ft stalker.

Greys also do a 7ft jungle stick.

Both superb.

I've never owned a Grey's rod but heard good things about them , I will look into the Jungle stick aswell.

What reel would you recommend.

I have found a nice Harrison stalker that you can have custom made what is everyone's thoughts on Harrison , I know they are UK manufactured.

Got a cracking shimano reel that goes well with both but for the life of me without emptying out my lock up I couldn't tell you the model.

Great rods though.

I've really enjoyed using the Free Spirit e-class margin creeper 8'6”, I coupled it with a small Shimano 4000 dl fa. I think the rod is around 2.5lb tc, which I'm happy with as I don't think I'd like a short rod any stiffer for how I use it.

I've had good success stalking snaggy margins and both rod and reel have withstood hit and hold situations with fish to mid thirty.

I got a second set, as most of my fishing was stalking or margin fishing / sub 20yards on 11acres or less.

I haven't used any other shorter carp rods as a comparison.

I know there not 9 or 10 foot, but they fit in my car made up which is handy when switching from days only to night lakes and back.

Baby ballista or s range bank creeper and a 4000 size reel daiwa or shimano.
