I have seen the kits on E bay to upgrade the spool clickers on Shimano 14000 size spools, but can't find anything for the 5500 size.
All three of my Medium BTR XTB's have had silent drags pretty much since new and it,'s pretty much my only gripe about the reels, which have otherwise performed faultlessly for the past 5 years or so.
Anyone know of an upgrade for the 5500 spools ?

Could be wrong but I would have thought maybe the same clicker for both sizes??

I don't think they are the same , hoping someone has an upgrade for the 5500 spools.....

Buy the spool clicker kits that fit the 14000 size spools and just file the some of the end plate down a bit I used the black handle jag file . It's just a case of just filing some of and keep refitting them till the clicker don't jam in the plastic cog that's what I did on my ultegra ci4 5500 spools and the clickers are so much louder. Their isn't a proper upgraded one for the 5500 size readily available from anywhere tried that when I wanted some . It's just a case of doing what I've suggested or you can send one of your reels and the spools you want doing to future fishing tackle shop and they will do it for you but would obviously work out more expensive sending it to them than you doing it yourself

As carpy says they will actually go on the reel and click but without filing down are slightly to long and "bottom out" in the nylon gear when going from forward to reverse or vice versa so the spool cant change direction without extra force.
I just ground a bit off the end until it stopped bottoming out and the spool easily changed direction

Thanks for the replies. Looks like I will get the kits and file them down then.
I live in the U.S., so it's reall not practical to send my spools in.

Just file a bit off trial by error until you work out the correct amount what you will notice is the more you file off the less pronounced the click is, the set i did 2 years ago are still working fine

On the upgraded spool clickers they are a squared of end and yes you file that end down
