Its been a while since ive needed to upgrade my winter boots, vurrently using Grub boots. Should i be looking at others or a Grubs still up there?

My Grubs split after 5 outings. They wouldn't help me with any sort of replacement/repair as I couldn't give them a receipt (they were a present).
I'd avoid them.

I recently binned my Grubs cause the neoprene section developed a hole, they were a few years old mind.
I also have a pair of Baffin Trappers that are excellent but more of thermal boot with a liner along the lines of the Skeetex, but far better in every way.

Had this pair 5 years and they are on my feet 5 days a week in the winter. Think i just answered my own question!

do you want boots or wellies?
meindl Bhutan are excellent winter boots with the appropriate socks, but are more useful if you're actually walking a bit.
Le chameau neoprene lined wellies are about as well made as they come, but definitely get too hot and sweaty if you're walking for a while.

I don't fish much in winter these days but if I do, I use a pair of Skeetex wellies for the insulation. I must have owned mine for 20 years now and changed the liners on them once. I always found boots transfer the cold to your feet more easily and nothing worse sitting there with cold feet. Just my preference, only downside for me is you can feel a bit club footed.

Had a pair of Skeetex field boots but they just made my feet sweat too much. Currently using a pair of Vass fleece lined and no issues so far. When im down the river i just use my muck boots.

Yes they are well insulated, not so good for walking about in, but in you are sat in the same spot in baltic conditions i've always found mine spot on.
