I'm planning a 6 month travelling trip around se Asia. Want to know people opinions on taking a 6ft scope ops 2lb tc rod with me in my bag for wild fishing rivers etc. is it worth taking or will it snap? If it is worth taking what line would you put on the reel, with what rigs etc. thanks

Although it was a couple of decades ago, I've travelled plenty of SE Asia and would suggest perhaps going a little heavier, and then you'll have the option to fish in the sea too... I found coastal opportunities were easier to come by and it is (or at least was) possible to hire a longboat with captain for not much cash for half a day, or the full day... I also went throw net fishing in the Mekong and caught jack..!
End tackle wise some lighter gear (maybe 6-8lb) and some heavier (maybe 15lb - take two spools???) nothing special at all required for rigs... I found fishing kit in a Cambodian market 20yr ago, so it is possible to source basic local end gear. The Tonle Sap probably has some intersting opportunities and there are places to stay around there where you could feasibly fish from the hostel balcony/veranda.
I didn't do much, by the way, just the odd little go with a rod and reel I bought in said market.
