I'm thinking of getting a free spirit hi s spm 12' rod to pair up with a Daiwa spod reel . I read somewhere that these are quite a heavy rod . Just wanted to check with any users if this is the case . Wondering also how the weight and action compare to the E class spomb rod , many thanks.

Yes it's a bit heavy, I just got the 13ft..

Thanks for the reply . I'm currently using the E class spomb rod and was thinking of upgrading to the hi s spm . Just changed my reel from an emblem s baboon to the emblem spod reel and there is an increase in weight there . Didn't know whether the hi s spm would also be heavier . I'm guessing the nature of the rod / reel means they're always going to be heavier than your actual fishing rods . I'm thinking of having one built with full cork and Kigans to match my rods . I had in my mind that the set up might be on the heavy side when spodding out 20 or so times , thanks .

Ive had both and the hi s is slightly lighter but you dont really notice the difference. I could cast just as far with the e class as i could with the hi s. The hi s is definitely not worth the extra money over the e class but its always nice to treat yourself 👍🏻

Ok , thanks . Might have to think about.this then as it doesn't seem a vast improvement for the money 👍
