Looking for a unbiased honest review on the Fox Frontier bivvy, I am sure they have been out long enough now for any teething problems or design flaws to come to light. Looking forward to getting some feedback before I purchase the X

I bought one late last year and have been using it regularly for about 7 months now. I bought it because I wanted a bit more floor space and especially height. I also bought a vapour peak for it.
Set up and take down are very easy and quick. In a wind peg down the back centre leg first, makes everything easier.
Comments I would make are that I was worried how the flat back was going to stand up in heavy winds but it has been fine and feels very stable. Having all my luggage in front of me has been a revelation and makes everything easier, I also seem to have far more room than previous bivvies, the footprint shape really works for me. I also like the extra height, but that does come with one issue, if you sit on a bedchair buddy and have the door set up letter box style the peak does not give enough coverage to stop rain entering the bivvy if you have the opening low enough to see out, yes you can use the clear door but personally I'd rather not.
Never had vents before and didn't think I'd use them, but in the hot conditions we have had this year they have been very welcome.
Last thing I noticed on my last session which was in the rain there was more condensation than I would have expected, time will tell if this proves to be a problem, does make me think that in hindsight I would have bought an overwrap rather than the vapour peak.
Overall very pleased.

One downside with the overwrap is that it doesn't have any of the rear/side vents!

When buying a new bivvy I narrowed it down to the Tempest 100T or the Frontier XD (Same as the X just taller)
I looked at both in person, pitched them both up and down, compared all the accessories etc and was impressed by the Frontier.
The only reason I went for the Tempest was I found one on FB with every accessory going for a cracking price.
If I didn't, I would have bought the Frontier.

The rain thing even with the vapour peak is the only negative thing I've heard. Saw a YouTube review also mention it. Gather it also offers no protection to the side windows - makes you wonder what the point of it is! Hopefully Fox bring out a larger peak or a social cap.
The blackout lining is what really sells the Frontier X to me after melting away this summer.

I have the XD the biggest model. Absolutely fantastic bit of kit. I have the peak which is great in summer and it deals easily with showers. I have the overwrap for mine which is superb adding a second skin and keeps everything out. I cant remember whether the X has windows all round or just at the back but as they are zippable the ventilation in hot weather is impressive. The back of it is nearly straight also so you can get your bed right into the back of it.
I got the XD for its height at 1.75, I dont have to bend down too much like I had to do with my Nash Double Top.
Without doubt the best bivvy I've ever owned by a country mile and I've had a few over the years. I love its adaptability and I think they are bringing a social cap out for it soon, so I might have to get one of those.

Nice one for the feedback - I am trying to work out if it is big enough to fit my old SS4 in as it just about fits in the 60" ultra and looking at the footprints it's going to be close - what beds do you all have?

they are so God dam heavy,had it bought for my birthday by the wife,my god its heavy,only used it for a weekend session and used my tempest brolly since.

Have the frontier x for a year now and its been a great bit of kit. Easily fits my flatliter with the large fx barrow bag and a bivvy table in front of the bed. Flat back gives loads of space for stashing the empty rod holdall and other bits of luggage behind the bedchair. Only drawbacks is it is heavy and if you are like myself, not the tallest angler, you need to wedge the block against your chest when splaying the legs out.

Trying to make my mind up between standard and X, was edging towards the X for the extra height but it's the weight
Need to see the Standard in the flesh to make sure the height is ok, just keep using my original Supa Brolly.

I have had Trakker bivvys for years and nervously took the plunge early this year and purchased a frontier x. So far for me perfect, build quality is superb, lots of space, especially love the headroom... goes up easily and as already stated peg the back leg down first if windy. Nice touch with the ground sheet as bit where feet go when sitting on bedchair peels back...
I have the vapour peak , mozzi panel and full Overwrap, does everything I need all year around. My personal opinion is build quality far superior to Trakker.
Nice touch is the pouches inside for receiver , keys etc... but don't forget to take them out when you pack it up as I found out recently!
