Hi,

I've recently purchased a box of this birdfood, and on a first test roll this evening adding 150g per kilo, i'm a little concerned at how strong a smell and taste this brings to the mix. I wondered if anyone has experience with this birdfood inculded in a fishmeal recipe, as it does look a quailty product.

Thank you for yor help.

Don't worry about that. It's a high quality birdfood.

If it's the recipe you showed me birdfood shouldn't be the prominent smell in it, if it's not discard the last comment.

A lot of these mixes are flavoured with aniseed oil however aniseed oil in a solid in pure form so no good for dispersion at all

I have used a lot of this birdfood, the blue box, and even at 20%, you hardly smell it in a fishmeal !

Maybe you have a wrong batch ?

The one that smell strong is the wet one, sold in bag, that contain more oil, this one have a dominant smell.

Yes that's correct, the yellow canary pictured on a blue box. A real strong smell of honey, prehaps even as, Nick kindly mentions a aniseed smell coming through. Also made the mix a tad sticky in comparrison to BAF's Clo it replaced.

I'm probalby on a different mix to the one i shared back then though, Mozzi, lol! However along similar lines, just with oyster powder added.

I have a box of CeDe canary also to compare to the Orlux, which has a similar kind of smell in the box, but much less intense in comparrison.

Thank you for your helpfull advice gents.

If you're worried about the smell, don't bother. We require air to smell something....the carp have other manners to sense food sources.

Does anyone know how the blue box orlux compares to AA Baits meggablend? I've used the orlux a lot and really like it, but not tried the AA meggablend as yet. Would also be interested to hear what the versele laga classic egg food is like if anyone has used it? Looking at the composition, the classic seems similar to the orlux blue box, but lacking the probiotics and honey. Apologies for hijacking the thread.
